Arise Lazarus

The cold suffered by De Anne last week somehow migrated to me. Although she suffered for a day and a half, I on the other hand, delicate and sensitive, managed to provide the virus a nurturing environment much longer.

On halting steps with a solicitous wife by my side I ventured forth into the City of Light. This lasted until Bastille Circle, then back to survival of the fittest in crossing streets. Our destination was Luxembourg Gardens to the left of the Left Bank.

At the pond we watched children launch sailboats.
Boats under sail. Duck house in front of fountain. Also used for ramming by sailboats.
We sat for awhile in the shade of a palm tree. Again on lawn chairs provided by the munificent government of France. When can Americans expect to get their lawn chairs?
Strolling to the far end of the gardens we came upon this magnificent fountain. Fontaine de l'Observatoire was built in 1874.
Taking a different way back to the pond we came across another example of Government largesse.
Several stone and metal ping pong tables. Add this to my list with the lawn chairs.
We headed back to the Left Bank for lunch and I showed De Anne the difference between Euros and gyros. You can't get one without the others. Inside joke - ask her about "blonde moments".
