Stair climbing

We visited the highest hill in Paris yesterday. For one Metro ticket the funicular (steep hillside train) would have whisked us to the top, but no, De Anne, ever ready to risk widowhood, insisted we climb. She did give me a pitying look and said if I wanted to waste a ticket to go ahead. Of course by using one ticket we would have an uneven number left and eventually have one that would be thrown away.
I looked at Sacre-Coeur waaaaay up on the hill and started the trek. We paused several times to take in the view of Paris, or at least I insisted that was the reason for the stops.

At the church I took this shot. Notice the lower left corner - a piano player on a lower level.
We took the long way down through the former abodes of artists like Renoir, Dali, and Van Gogh. They were all poor at the time and apparently moved often since most of them had multiple "official" homes.

We did see two different model shoots on the way down. I ogled models while De Anne ogled pastries. She is always looking, never touching. Me too.
We ended the tour at the Moulin Rouge, a bit disappointing. Perhaps it is livelier at night.
Walking to the Metro we went by Pigalle which was called Pig Alley by American GI's. Suffice to say that It is not an area for children.

We arrived back at the flat; however, the warm day and bright sunshine still called to De Anne. We left for the Eiffel Tower. The lines were incredible so we walked across the street to the Trocadero gardens and had an ice cream while waiting for the hourly fountain show.

We strolled the Parc du Champ De Mars, the park in front of the Eiffel Tower and enjoyed Sunday afternoon with a few hundred thousand others.
